Principal

Danny is a proud native of Leeds and has always lived in the city. After studying GCSEs and A levels at Garforth Comprehensive School, he completed a degree in Public Relations in 1999. Danny then worked in a range of different jobs before returning to university to train to be a teacher in 2002. He has been an English teacher since 2003, working exclusively in schools serving communities with high levels of economic and social deprivation.

Since 2012, he has been part of the Dixons Multi-Academy Trust as a senior leader; working across two different academies in Bradford. He has led on whole school initiatives for Teaching and Learning, Behaviour and School Culture, Post-16, Teacher training, leadership development and coaching.

From 1 October 2018, Danny became the Principal of Dixons Unity Academy in Leeds. This is the first time he has worked in his home town and he is especially proud to be serving a community to which he has strong family ties.

At Dixons Unity, Danny and his team aim to create a culture where teachers have the liberty to teach and students have the freedom to learn. The aim is to provide a high quality education which inspires students to develop a lifelong love of learning which enables them to enrich their communities and to climb the mountain to university or a viable alternative.
