Primary to Secondary Transition

At Dixons Unity, we appreciate that the transition process from primary school to secondary school can be daunting, that's why we take great pride in offering a tailored and unique transition experience.

Our high quality transition program starts in the very first weeks of year 6, when key staff from our Senior Leadership Team and our Transition Team visit our local primary schools to speak to students and introduce themselves. Following this, we open our doors to parents and prospective students for our open evening, enabling them to experience Dixons Unity Academy for themselves.

Once the local authority admissions team have offered places to year 6 students, we hold three transition days across several weeks. Any prospective student who has been offered a place at Dixons Unity is invited to attend these days to 'get a taste' of academy life and to familiarise themselves with the daily workings of our academy. This is also a great opportunity to meet the staff and other students who will be working with them throughout their academy career.

The transition program ends with an optional two week Summer School that takes place through the summer holidays.

We had an amazing start to @HepworthGallery Artist in Residence at today. We're excited to be working with their students every week for our #BurberryInspire project. Love how much enthusiasm there is for creativity and the arts in school!
