Associate Assistant Vice Principal
Amy has been teaching for 12 years, all of them been at the Academy since it’s opening in 2009. Amy grew up in Skipton and has always had a passion for sport. Amy studied Karate for over 14 years, competing regular around the country. Amy also spent time in America teaching martial arts in Summer Camp. This passion made her pursue a career in teaching and Sport so Amy moved to Leeds in 2005 to study Secondary Physical Education at Leeds Metropolitan University and securing her first teaching post here at the Academy when she qualified in 2009. During this time Amy has completed her Masters in Teaching and Learning as well as the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership.
Throughout the time at the Academy Amy taught PE and has predominantly worked in the Pastoral team, including leading on Transition and been a Head of Year. Amy is passionate about challenging educational disadvantage and is committed to supporting every single student at Dixons through her work as a teacher as well as her work within the pastoral team. Amy is immensely proud to be part of the journey as a member of Senior Leadership team and taking the academy on it’s transformational journey.
