Assistant Vice Principal - Connect

Stephen joined Dixons Unity Academy in January 2024 as Assistant Vice Principal, following a year in a similar role at Dixons Trinity Chapeltown Academy. He came to Dixons Unity Academy with a clear mission: to establish the school’s internal alternative provision, Connect, designed to support our most vulnerable students, particularly those with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Before joining Dixons Academies Trust, Stephen spent seven years working in the west of Leeds, supporting children who had been permanently excluded or were at risk of exclusion. His commitment to inclusive education and his experience in alternative provision have been instrumental in shaping the support systems at Dixons Unity Academy.

Stephen is a qualified PE teacher with a diverse teaching background across primary, secondary, alternative provision and further education settings. He also brings a wealth of experience from his time in professional rugby union and in supporting sports academies at a large inner-city college in Nottingham.
