Principal's update - 10 July 2026

Posted 10th July 2026

Dear families

Firstly, I want to thank you all for the resilience that's been shown during these hot days. Even in these last few days, all learning is essential, and I really appreciate the efforts that have been made to keep students in school and on track. Students are welcome to wear PE kit for the remainder of the academic year, and as has been the case this week that means Dixons PE top and blue/black shorts, along with the appropriate lanyard and bag.

It's been another excellent Careers Week, with opportunities for students to learn about careers in media, the arts, and the trades, as well as routes into further education. We're passionate about finding a route to university or a real alternative for each and every student, and these weeks are a great opportunity for students to learn more about their options.

We've also had our Year 10 open evening, and it was brilliant to see so many families in the building, excited to learn how best to support their children in their all-important final GCSE year. Additionally, on Thursday we held our final Recognition Evening of the year, in which we celebrated those students who have gone above and beyond. Celebrating those exceptional students, and watching performances from our motivated and talented students, filled me with a great sense of pride in our school and students.

Looking further ahead, Wednesday 2 September will be our Meet the Tutor day. Appointments for these are currently being allocated and will published to MCAS by the end of next week. Attendance at these appointment is compulsory as vital information and equipment will be given ahead of the academic year. Unfortunately we are unable to re-arrange these appointment times and students should still attend if families members are unable to attend with them. Please do contact main reception if you need support with logging into your MCAS account.

Keep an eye out for my final update of the year next week, which will contain vital information about the start of next term.

Next week will be our final week. Thursday will be a half day, so expect students to head home at 12.30. Thursday will also be sports day, so bring plenty of water and get ready to represent your form!

Enjoy the weekend, and I look forward to seeing all students in school next week for these final few days.
