Principal's Update 10 May 2024

Posted 10th May 2024

Dear families

I hope that you have had a fantastic week and you have been enjoying the weather - is summer finally here? There is no video from me this week but it will return next week.

We have again had a busy week despite only being a four day week. Year 11 have continued with their final exams and continue to conduct themselves impeccably. A drop down timetable is in place which means students will have focused revision throughout the exam period and attendance is compulsory every single day. Year 11 are also looking ahead to their prom and on Wednesday, we held our first 'prom shop' with dresses and suits available for students to take away for free thanks to kind donations from our local community. We still have lots of items of clothing so please do reach out if you are in need ahead of prom later in the year. We were joined at the event by the BBC who will be covering this as a news item next week! This week we also welcomed our new Year 7s for their first transition event, this work is ongoing and we will be visiting primary schools and arranging further visits in the coming weeks. Year 6 begin their SATs next week and we wish them well!

Next week we look forward to welcoming our Year 10 families to the revision evening which is taking place on Monday. This is a great opportunity to find out how to support your child as we build up to our first mock examinations which will take place in June. It is imperative that students work hard to achieve the best possible grades as these could be provided to colleges and sixth forms who will make decisions about whether to offer students places for their post-16 study. We also have a careers evening coming up on the 22 of May, Year 10 families may find this particularly useful as we begin the post-16 application process.

I hope that your weekend is a sun-filled and enjoyable as the end of this week has been. See you next week.

Many thanks

Mr A Jacobs
