Principal's Update - 11 October 2024
Posted 11th October 2024
Dear families
I hope you've had a great week. Next week is our final week of our first term this academic year. Students will finish on Friday at 12.35pm. Students on free school meals will be able to collect lunch before they leave. Students return on Monday 4 November at 8.18am. Please note we have a two week October holiday - this is different to most schools.
This week we finished off our Year 8 and Year 10 assessments, the reports will be sent to you after half-term. I really appreciate the resilience that students have shown throughout the assessment period. We also had school photos this week, students should have brought home their QR code so you can purchase photos direct with the School Photography Company online. Our PE department have been busy again with wins in the Year 9 football and Dixons Cup cross country, strong performances in netball and rugby for Year 10 and a training day for student leaders. As part of our careers programme a number of Year 8s had the opportunity to attend a coding workshop at Leeds City College and Year 7 worked with the Northern Powergrid on a net zero project. What a week!
I want to also extend a huge congratulations to Maria in Year 10 who has just been crowned world arm wrestling champion! An incredible achievement.
Next week we have more fixtures in rugby, football, netball and badminton and flu vaccines on Wednesday - you will have received an email already if this concerns your child. Finally, on Friday, we will be hosting our first ever culture day. Students are welcome to attend in cultural dress and there will be various activities throughout the day.
