Principal's update - 14 November 2025
Posted 14th November 2025
Dear families,
This week I thought we would mix things up a little and ask Mrs Paddy to feature in the video for this weeks update.
It’s been a busy and productive week at the academy, and I’m delighted to share some highlights with you.
Our Year 11 students have shown incredible resilience during their mock exams. Attendance is absolutely essential at this stage, as these assessments play a key role in college applications. Thank you for supporting your child to be in school every day and fully prepared.
We also had a fantastic visit to Newby Wiske, where students demonstrated determination and teamwork while tackling outdoor challenges. Many overcame fears and pushed themselves beyond their comfort zones - a true example of resilience in action. Their conduct was exemplary, and we’re proud of the way they represented the academy. A huge thank you to the staff who gave up their time to make this experience possible.
In sports, we saw some great performances in the Dixons Cup alongside a tough loss for Year 7, which will only make them stronger for the future. We also took part in an innovative indoor rowing virtual event—an exciting way to compete and stay active.
Next week:
- Year 11 mock exams continue next week. Please ensure students attend every day—these sessions are vital for progress and future opportunities.
- National Enterprise Challenge: Students will showcase creativity and problem-solving skills in this exciting competition.
- Sports fixtures: Three netball matches, plus a ten-pin bowling competition against other schools.
- And of course, 30 lessons of fantastic learning - every day counts, so let’s keep attendance strong!
Thank you for your continued support in helping our students thrive. Together, we’re building resilience and ambition for the future.
