Principal's update - 15 May 2026
Posted 15th May 2026
Dear families
We're now approaching the end of a very short term. With GCSE exams still being our primary focus, we've been delighted by the positivity and confidence shown by our Year 11s this week. The enthusiasm and excitement amongst students after each paper shows how much pride our students have in their work and our school. Let's keep that energy up for this last week before the break.
On the topic of pride, I'm delighted that three of our students will be on the Pride in Place neighbourhood board. They will help to make decisions on spending when it comes to Armley's Pride in Place funding, and will act as ambassadors for young people on the scheme, amplifying the voices of local young people.
Please see here a new survey from the children's commissioner, asking about changes children and young people wish to see in their communities, their biggest concerns, and their hopes for the future About this survey : The Big Future survey - have your say!
It has come to our attention that some male students are wearing their trousers lower than waist height, which is understandably causing some embarrassment and concern for other staff and students. Please support the school in reminding your child to wear their trousers properly, as further incident of this will be addressed seriously.
Looking forward to next week, remember that we'll have a half day on Friday as we break for Half Term. Students will, as always, leave at 12.30pm.
