Principal's update - 19 September 2025
Posted 19th September 2025
Dear families
Firstly, apologies for no video update this week. It will return next week!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Open Evening last night—it was a pleasure to welcome hundreds of families through our doors. We’re already looking forward to seeing many of those students again when they join us in September.
This week saw the launch of our Generation Together project on Tuesday, in partnership with Armley Helping Hands. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to connect with and support our local community. We also welcomed a local author on Thursday, inspiring students to explore their creativity and love of reading.
Next week, Year 9 students will take part in a Brook workshop on Wednesday, focusing on relationships and sex education. On Thursday, we’re hosting our Year 7 Settling-In Evening—we’re aiming for 100% attendance, so please do join us to hear how your child has settled into life at the academy.
We’re also pleased to share that punctuality has improved significantly, with the number of late arrivals halving since the start of term. Behaviour across the academy continues to improve too, with far fewer corrections being issued. Thank you for your continued support in reinforcing high expectations.
Looking ahead, assessments for Year 8 and Year 10 begin in Week 6. Revision information will be shared shortly—please encourage your child to begin preparing early.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support. We’ll continue to keep you updated each week with all the latest news and key information.
