Principal's update - 28 November 2025
Posted 28th November 2025
Dear families
You will have received my earlier communication regarding the change in leadership at Dixons Unity from Easter 2026. Recruitment has begun for a new Principal who will continue to take the school from strength to strength, and we are very fortunate to be able to draw on incredible talent from our strong multi-academy trust which will ensure the transition is smooth. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for making me part of the Unity Community. I have worked at Dixons Unity on two occasions across 5 academic years and it has been a pleasure. The school has been on a steep improvement trajectory thanks to the hard work of my staff team, the students and you as families. The biggest lever for improvement is attendance and I would ask that you keep working with the school as we strive for 97% attendance for every child. I will continue to work incredibly hard for you as Principal, and on ensuring a strong transition with the next Principal of Dixons Unity, until I take up my new post in April.
This week there's been lots going on at DUA! We've had fixtures in rowing, table tennis, athletics and basketball - the PE department do a fantastic job offering so many opportunities for our students. Y10 and Y11 students have also been working hard on their BTEC assessments. There assessments are the real deal and contribute towards a students final grade. We've also ramped up the Winter Fayre prep this week with more winter crafts and activities in the Unity Community. I am hoping to see you all at the Winter Fayre tomorrow between 11 and 2.
Next week, it's careers week. It's arguable my favourite week of every cycle as Ms Smith puts together an incredible array of careers activities to inspire and motivate our students. A few highlights include mock interviews with business professionals, trips to Channel 4 and the Hilton hotel group, pharmacy workshops and apprenticeships fayres. It is going to be fantastic. Alongside that we have fixtures in badminton, basketball and table tennis. What a week!
The end of this week means we're now 3 weeks away from the winter break (time flies when you're having fun!) and I will share more information on the end of term very soon. Hopefully see you at the Winter Fayre and if not, see you next week in our update!
Mr Jacobs
