Principal's update - 3 July 2026

Posted 3rd July 2026

Dear families

It has been a very busy week, welcoming our new cohort into the school! This Thursday and Friday we have been getting to know our new Year 7s, and we can't wait to see them again in September. They've had taster lessons, including Maths, Science and English, have practised our routines, have met their form tutors, and have even been given a present - after meeting author Philip Kavvadias, they were all given his book to read over the summer holidays! They'll be marking their places with their lovely new bookmarks, designed by Year 9 students Jose B - well done, Jose!

We've also had a number of exciting trips this week. In our first ever cricket match, we had an 8-wicket win over Dixons Trinity. Congratulations to Aqil M in Year 9, who scored an incredible 58 runs. We've also had the dragon boat racing trip today, and the Geography trip earlier in the week.

While term may be coming to an end shortly, we are certainly not winding down our high-level engagement. With nothing but the highest expectations of our students, we will be presenting a range of opportunities to them next week in our termly Careers Week. It's always a highlight in the calendar, so expect plenty of talks, workshops and more!

Tuesday next week will be our Year 10 parents evening, and I look forward to getting to know more of our Year 10 families. As always, this is a great opportunity for you to learn how you can best support your child's education at home, so do make sure you're booking those appointments.

A reminder that students are no longer required to wear jumpers or blazers for the remainder of the term. We're expecting some more sun next week, so remember to bring in your water and sunscreen!

Finally, I'd like to let you know that free school meal allowance is changing from September. More families will be entitled to free school meals, and of course we want as many of our students as possible to have access to this fantastic resource. You should have had a letter about this, but do contact main reception if you need any further support in accessing this.
