Principal's update - 3 October 2025

Posted 3rd October 2025

Dear families

What a week of energy, effort, and determination across the academy!

Our sports teams have shown fantastic commitment. Year 10 football faced a tough match against Lawnswood, and Year 8 netball battled hard against local rivals Farnley. A huge well done to our Year 9/10 girls’ football team for securing 3rd place in the Dixons Cup! Year 9 football also showed great spirit against Corpus—we’ll be focusing on training to build on this. A reminder to all students: keep attending enrichment sessions—they make a real difference.

Year 8 and Year 10 assessments have been running throughout the week, and we’re proud of the hard work students have shown so far. Please keep revising as these continue into next week.

On Thursday, students took part in a Brook education workshop on relationships and sex education. These sessions are an important part of our curriculum, and students engaged with maturity and respect.

Looking ahead to next week:

  • Five sports fixtures across netball, football, and rugby—good luck to all our teams!
  • Year 11 Careers Fair on Tuesday—an excellent opportunity to explore future pathways.
  • Year 11 Revision Weekend begins on Friday—thank you to staff for giving up their time and to students for their commitment.

A quick reminder on attendance:
We’ve seen a slight dip this week. Every lesson is an important learning opportunity, so please encourage your child to attend even if they’re feeling a little under the weather. Building resilience is key to success.

Finally a reminder for families who drop off and pick up students. Please ensure that you adhere to the stop sign at the bottom of the drive. The priority is with the care driving on to site. Please wait until the drive is clear before exiting site.

Thank you to our staff for their dedication and to our students for their hard work and determination. Let’s keep the momentum going—every effort counts!
