Principal's update - 5 December 2025
Posted 5th December 2025
Dear families
It’s been an amazing week at Dixons Unity with Careers Week taking centre stage. Year 11 students really shone during their mock interviews with local employers – such an important experience for their future. We also welcomed visitors from pharmacy and horticulture, giving students a real insight into different career paths. Year 10 enjoyed university visits, and Year 7 had a brilliant trip to Hilton Hotels to learn about opportunities in hospitality.
Sport has been busy too, with plenty of fixtures. Badminton and table tennis were the highlights this week – well done to all involved.
Next week:
- Monday & Tuesday: Student Listening Days – a chance for students to share their views.
- Tuesday: Year 7–9 Badminton fixtures.
- Thursday:
- Christmas Lunch & Christmas Jumper Day – Students can wear their favourite Christmas jumper for a £1 donation (please avoid offensive slogans or images). Donations will help provide Christmas dinner boxes for our community.
- Recognition Evening & Winter Concert – full details are on Facebook. It would be great to see a packed room!
- Sports fixtures: Year 7 Basketball and Year 8 & 9 Netball.
- Friday: Leeds Museum Visit – a fantastic opportunity for our historians to learn beyond the classroom.
Looking ahead:
- Year 11 Data Afternoon – Monday, 15 December. Students will finish early at 12:30pm for staff training. Please adjust pick-up arrangements. Free school meals will be available before they leave.
Thank you for your continued support. Attendance is key to success, so please keep working with us to reach 97% for every child.
Have a great weekend, and I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming events!
Mr Jacobs
