Principal's update - 6 February 2026

Posted 6th February 2026

Dear Unity Community

We're at the end of our penultimate week of a relatively short, but very busy term. We break up for the February holiday on Thursday 12 February 2025 at 12:30pm. Please ensure that any transport arrangements are adjusted as required.

There have been two key wider curriculum themes this term. Firstly, our incredible careers programme which continues to go from strength to strength with Leeds to Success, the Kings Trust and our work with West Yorkshire Police continuing this week. Secondly, our wide ranging sports programme which includes competitive fixtures throughout the term. This week our KS3 girls rugby team won the Dixons Cup (again!) and our Y10 boys drew 2-2 in their fixture. I want to mention specifically our KS4 girls rugby team who completed in the Yorkshire Cup this week. Though they didn't manage to win, the girls conduct was fantastic and their application even in the face of defeat was admirable. We're so proud of what these girls have been achieving.

Next week we have a visit to the West Yorkshire Fire Service for a group of Y10s, as well as more rugby, this time for the boys and finally a Y10 football fixture vs local rivals Farnley. On Thursday, students are hosting a cultural runway celebration showcasing a range of different backgrounds and experiences. Students in Y7-9 will be invited throughout the day to watch the performances and celebrate our rich and diverse school culture.

Another reminder that we close at 12:30pm on Thursday for the holidays - more information about the start of term will follow next update!
