Principal's update - 6 November 2026
Posted 6th November 2026
Dear families
Firstly, welcome back! I hope the Half Term break and was enjoyable and restful. I know those students who kicked it off with the Paris Trip certainly had a fun and enriching time.
Thank you for keeping up the effort when it comes to attendance, and for returning to school with a great attitude. Our attendance this week is higher than it was this time last year, which is especially useful as this is a very important week for our Key Stage 4 students. Year 11 have been hard at work in their mock exams, which give them and their teachers vital information about their current strengths and gaps, which together we can plug ahead of those all-important exams in the summer. Year 10 have been completing their BTEC coursework, which has caused a flurry of excitement as the Drama students have been in their costumes all day on Thursday and Friday! It's brilliant to see such hard work and resilience from our Key Stage 4 students.
We also had our Diwali celebration in the Unity Community. The food, all created by members of our community, was fantastic - as was the dancing! I hope that anyone in our community that is celebrating inside or outside of school has a brilliant time this weekend.
Looking forward to next week, Year 8 will be off on their Dearn Valley residential. And don't forget that Thursday and Friday are Data Days, in which our staff receive essential training. School will be closed on both days.
