Principals Update - 24 May 2024
Posted 24th May 2024
Dear families
We have reached the end of another term, my ninth as Principal at Dixons Unity Academy and I am so proud of the journey that we are on and the progress we have made. This week we had a number of days where attendance was over 3% higher than this years average demonstrating the commitment from our young people to their learning and to the families who are supporting this. I would ask that after half-term we continue to support with attendance as it is so important that students are attending every day.
This week Dixons also says goodbye to Mr Miley who is moving on to become a CEO at an academy trust in Sheffield. Mr Miley has been instrumental to the improvements at the academy over the last six years and I am personally and professionally grateful for his leadership. We wish Mr Miley all the best in his new role.
This week we also welcomed families in to the academy for a careers information evening, it was great to see so many of you in attendance. Hopefully you found the session interesting and insightful. Next term the information evening will focus on the SEND support available in the academy followed by an opportunity to offer your feedback in that area and more broadly on academy life. I will share more details in the coming weeks.
After the holiday we will begin our Cycle 3 assessments. Details about these assessments can be found here:
- Year 7 Assessment Details
- Year 8 Assessment Details
- Year 9 Assessment Details
- Year 10 Assessment Details
I am certain that most students will already be revising. If you do require any help with supporting your child with revision at home then please do get in touch and let us know.
It really has been an excellent and exhausting term. I thank you for all of your support, wish you a restful holiday and look forward to seeing all students on Monday 3 June by 7.56am in full uniform and fully equipped for the term.
Mr A Jacobs
