Principal's Update - 27 September 2024
Posted 27th September 2024
Dear families
I hope you have had a brilliant week - we have here at DUA! Last week I discussed attendance, we are currently around 4% overall higher than we were last year and one day last week we were 7% higher than we were on the same day last year. These improvements only happen with your support - Thank you.
We've had quite a sport heavy week at DUA with Year 11 football fixtures, Year 7 netball fixtures, Year 9 girls rugby, Year 10 and Year 11 girls football, Year 8 football and Year 10 football. I don't quite know how we fit it all in! Special shout out to the Year 10 boys who finished second in their Dixons Cup tournament.
Next week assessments begin for Year 8 and Year 10, the assessment window lasts for two weeks. Students will be tested on their knowledge of everything that has been taught so far, not just what has been taught in the current year. It's important that students get in to good habits of revision. Every morning students utilise quizzing as a strategy for revision - this is something they can continue to practice at home. We also utilise platforms such as Sparx Maths, Seneca and Century Tech. Students can access these services independently using their school log in via our student portal which is here: DUA - Student Team - Home (sharepoint.com).
I have had a number of messages this week regarding homework. As homework is completed online we have created a guide to show you how to access these programmes, that can be found here: Dixons Unity Academy | Learning Habit 1: Homework and Deadlines (dixonsua.com). If you have any questions about these, please contact reception.
Thank you again for your support. See you next update!
