Connect

What is 'Connect'?

Connect is our internal alternative provision for students at Dixons Unity Academy. There are 30 placements available to support individuals across all year groups.

What are our aims and priorities?

The aims of Connect are to improve behaviour, attendance and reduce suspensions of Connect students by providing appropriate provision to better meet individual need. The environment has been designed to ensure that students have access a small number of staff who are all experienced with supporting young people’s Social, Emotional and Mental health needs.

Our priorities are as follows:

  • Ensure that all students are safe.
  • Ensure that all students are attending as often as possible.
  • Ensure that SEMH needs are met, and appropriate intervention is in place.
  • Ensure that students have access to a broad curriculum and high-quality teaching to improve academic outcomes.

How long are students placed in Connect for?

Placements in Connect are a minimum of 6 weeks and are made via the schools Team around the Child panel, which includes staff from the Leadership, Pastoral, Safeguarding and SEND team. All placements are reviewed every 6 weeks.
